OK all you budding pundits – the Aussie federal election has been called for November 24.
And its game on already!
Here’s my prediction: Labor will win, but will need to form government with at least 1 independent; I believe the number of Independents will increase to 4 seats, and that the Nationals will also lose seats (but nowhere near as many as the Liberals).
As for the Senate – well it could go any way. But my sincere hope is that no major party holds a majority in the Upper House, and that the Minor Parties (all of them) and the Independents hold balance of power, and keep whomever forms government honest.
Now, here’s the other thing:
(and yes, I am going to show my unashamed dislike for John Howard)…
I am putting the call out – if Howard loses the election on November 24, then I say we gather that night at Federation Square (Melbourne) and party harder than an ewok celebration! So, if you too are looking to see a change in this country, then spread the word, keep an eye on results on the night, and head down to FedSquare for the election party to end all election parties.
In the meantime, lets enjoy (ha!) 40 days of political spin, backflips, and baby-kissing (not to mention the odd smear campaign or two)….
